The government causes the problem, then proposes the “solution”

It was pointed out today on a local radio talk show that government action often times causes a problem that they later say they have the solution for.  After the Columbine tragedy of 1999 they made schools “gun-free zones”.  By doing this they ensured that homicidal maniacs would be offered no resistance.  Government policy created these killing zones, and their answer is to take away your gun.

This headline was in today’s Register, Shooting response plans studied, in response to U.S. tragedies, area law enforcement will submit review to local governments.  Are you kidding me???  Fourteen years after Columbine and we’re just now getting serious with a plan for our schools???

Wayne LaPierre was the first one I heard address seriously the subject of real security doors, camera surveillance and appropriate tactical response.  With all the government agencies around it took the head of the NRA to address this problem?  And the city of Des Moines thinks they’re being proactive???

A caller today on the same radio show made an excellent point about the gun-grabbers’ mentality.  He said that if you listen to any interview with them you will quickly find out that they are ignorant about firearms, the second amendment and human nature.  People who know nothing about these topics can’t possibly solve the issue.  He said that by creating these gun-free school zones it’s actually like shooting fish in a barrel because they have no protection.  They have actually made the problem much, much worse.

The lack of forceful tactical response fourteen years ago with at least non-lethal mace, Tasers and rubber bullets is criminal.  And the government solution?  Take away your gun.
