In the March 13 DM Register Mark Potok from the communist front group the Southern Poverty Law Center does a complete rewrite of history and nobody even blinks.
His article ‘Anti-government ‘Patriot’ groups ramp up’, purports to explain the psyche of American gun owners for the past 20 years. He claims passage of the Brady Bill in 1993 resulted in the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building in 1995.
This liberal nonsense skips a couple of key points; Ruby Ridge and Waco. Those two incidents are what setoff Timothy McVeigh, not the Brady Bill.
Potok simply refers in a vague sense to government “perfidy”. As it turns out, that word means “Deliberate breach of faith; calculated violation of trust; treachery”. To liberals like Potok, who want the government involved in every single aspect of your life, government can do no wrong. But to the rest of us, Ruby Ridge and Waco mean just a wee bit more.
In August of 1992, using military-style rules of engagement, an FBI sniper murdered an unarmed Vicki Weaver while she held her baby. US Marshalls gunned down 14-year-old Sammy Weaver as he ran from them. To that jackass Potok, this can be dismissed with the wave of a hand and a dismissive use of the word “perfidy”. Evidently, perfidy will get you killed.
In April 1993 Janet ‘Burn em alive’ Reno had at least 25 children killed, in order to save them. No one seems to be sure of the body count resulting from the blaze.
So to liberals like Potok, to be upset by any of this means you are a believer in “baseless conspiracy theories”.
