On WOI 640’s “Talk of Iowa: Politics Wednesday”, one of the topics was the Supreme Courts 5-4 ruling partially giving more leeway for donors to buy politicians. ISU political science professor Steffen Schmidt was aghast at the road to corruption we were now on because of this decision. He actually said the “American people will rebel at this, I don’t know when, but they will rebel!”.
Sure Schmidt, right after they wake up from their nap. Good grief, liberals never have been able to grasp this. It isn’t the money in politics, it’s the politics in business. Corporations wouldn’t throw money at politicians if it didn’t buy something. It buys favorable regulations and tax structures. The fact that government has no business micromanaging business, never occurs to nitwits like Schmidt.
From the statehouse to the Whitehouse, and every stop in between, government is involved in our lives way more than our founders intended. I knew something was way off course when I was a kid and the Federal Government outlawed lawn darts. Are you kidding me? And light bulbs? The size of your toilet tank? TV transmissions, cigarettes, beer, magazines, marijuana, hemp. Take that one, how do you outlaw rope? Hemp is not marijuana (or so I’m told). Casinos? Why does the State of Iowa own slot machines and greyhounds?
Liberals don’t WANT to understand this. The reason there is money in politics, is because the power of government is for sale. Stop the sale of that power, i.e. unconstitutional government regulation and taxation, and you stop money in politics. The rich ain’t gonna throw money at these boobs if there isn’t anything to be had. In the mean time, farmers will continue to get their subsidies, oil companies will continue to get their subsidies, and you and I will continue to get the bill. And our kids will continue to be dumb downed by idiots like Schmidt.
