“Iraq Heads For Civil War”

“The worsening situation is likely to renew a bitter debate in the United States over the wisdom of  entering the war, which cost more than 4,000 U.S. troops their lives, and the withdrawal of combat forces in 2011.”

This article was in Thursday’s USA Today. Radio broadcasts in the last 24 hours have stated the same dire outlook for Iraq. In the radio broadcast they reference America’s “failed effort to bring democracy to the region.” Huh? I never understood that. Why did our Pentagon, our State Department, and our White House ever think they could bring “democracy” to Iraq or Afghanistan? As has been pointed out by anyone even slightly familiar with Islam, it is not just a religion, it is a also a system of government. Sharia Law. The two are inseparable. They don’t buy the idea of “separation of church and state”.

The other quote I really liked was, “Morale in the Iraqi army has plummeted. ‘There is no desire to fight,’ said Waleed Alrawi, a retired Iraqi brigadier general now living in Florida.” Someone really must explain this to me. Iraqi’s won’t fight for their own country, but we are supposed to? Iraqi’s won’t foot the bill for their own freedom, but we are supposed to? Iraqi’s won’t die for Iraq, but we are supposed to?

I’m not sure I see the logic in that. So our government is saying we can give another people freedom? That they will value it? Cherish it? Respect it? And guard It? Even though they didn’t earn it? Fight for it? And desire it? Huh. Get what you pay for I guess.

Personally, I see them as Genesis 16:12 does, “wild asses of men, who will always have their hand against their brother”. Not someone I see as having the habits of liberty. Not someone I would send Americans off to die for. Not someone I would indebt America to the Chinese for to the tune of trillions of dollars. Not someone I would see as having the ability to assimilate to this culture.

The USA Today article does seem to suggest that the last 11 years in Iraq have been a complete waste.

Genesis 16:12

12 This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey! He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him. Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives.”
