“Police called to free speech zone during street preacher’s rant”

The news channels lately have been discussing the end of free speech at universities these days from pampered students vigilant to be offended at the drop of a hat. It reminded me of this article from the 9/21 Iowa State Daily . Students called the cops on a street preacher in the designated “free speech zone”. Notice the entire campus does not allow free speech. What the hell is up with that?

One student is quoted, “I don’t know why the police won’t remove him.” I won’t embarrass his parents by naming him. Only in Iowa. When is a free speech zone, not? Good grief. This kid wanted the cops to remove him. Then I hear on cable news this is a national phenomenon. I thought we were the only idiots!

As to the street preacher, why do Jesus’ ambassadors so often seem to be a bit out there? He’s named in the article. Maybe you should run your spiel past an associate before taking it public. Try it out in your small group first. You are representing the King. Calling out strangers for being sinners might not be the preferred initial salvo. Build a relationship.
