Justice Scalia’s death brings to the fore once again a discussion about law and rights that has no logical foundation in truth. We live in a country so ignorant of Natural Law that the people don’t even realize that fundamental rights shouldn’t be in jeopardy because of who sits on the court (i.e. the right to bear arms).
The other sign of this ignorance is when someone says “The Supreme Court has spoken and made it the law of the land.” A court can’t write law, only a legislature can, that’s why the Constitution says “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress”. Does a President sit down and sign a Supreme Court decision into law? Organic rights are not dependent upon which 5 men sit on a bench, that’s ludicrous. But it does in our world.
Courts decide cases. The Supreme Court didn’t give us our rights, our Creator did, and the Constitution guarantees those rights. The Supreme Court can’t take those rights away, because they didn’t give them to us. Another sign is when someone talks about “Our Constitutional rights!”. Bull. Our rights don’t come from the Constitution, they are protected by it.
