I’m not sure, but we do. The programming I have received from corporate media this morning, is that if Americans don’t rush out to buy Chinese plastic the next two days, the sky will certainly fall! Buy! Buy! Buy! It seems to be dreadfully important that we all rush out to spend money we don’t have, to buy things we don’t need, to impress people we don’t like, to save the American economy! How that’s accomplished by buying Chinese manufactured goods, is above my pay scale.
You don’t want to be unpatriotic do you? I didn’t think so (Keeping in mind any other time you expounded American values you’d be wrong). China has enjoyed a trade surplus with America for 43 years thanks to their production of clothes, shoes and toys. We’ve been told this past half-century that “old school” manufacturing jobs weren’t desirable. The American voter 16 days ago said otherwise.
